Every one of you should know that a fitness routine and a good healthy diet will keep your body in shape. But how many of you actually follow these routines strictly? I can say that many are not that diligent, there are too many things in life to keep you occupied and you do not have the extra effort to maintain the body shape that you desire. You are self-conscious about how you appear in front of others as you are afraid of judgment or even teasing by your friends. So what can you do? Answer is to make yourself appear thinner, without actually becoming thinner.
1) Wear dark colored clothing
Is it an illusion to the eye? None of us know, but somehow, the color black almost always works. It has a slimming effect and makes you not only look slender but also chic. You will be surprised by its effects. Not only black, generally, dark colored clothing like gray or dark blue will do the trick too, it depends on how you can match colors around to cover the flaws and bring out your confident body parts. Of course, you cannot fool everyone by wearing dark colored clothing because it will only make you appear slightly thinner or cover up your flaws, this plan could backfire if you are wearing dark colored clothing that are a little tight fit as it bring out the contours of your body, so choose wisely.
2) Leave your shirt untucked
Yes, I know you will look a little weird with the shirt hanging downwards and covering your waistline, but it is alright. Leaving shirt untucked will reduce the effects of contouring and clinging to your problem areas.
3) Maintaining a good posture
We can talk forever about how clothing will change the way you appear, how colors play a trick to the eyes, how you can mix around and wear the right clothing, however, it is the fundamentals and basics that people tend to neglect and are guilty of. In this case, it is about having the right body posture. If you constantly slouch, the spine will be curved forward and thus creating layers on your belly. What is worse than having a belly? Having a layered and bigger belly. Do not do that, avoid slouching, stand tall and confident, make yourself slightly taller, that way, you will appear more confident and your flaws will be slightly hidden.
4) Avoid carrying extra baggage in your pocket
Try not to put your handphones, tissue papers or wallets et cetera in your pockets as it will make you appear bulky on top of your original body size. Keep those items in a bag or a carrier and reduce the load in your pockets.
5) Change the attention focus
Too often a time, many people dress well, but without a key piece or the additional factor that makes you stand out. For females, it can be accessories like jewelries, necklaces or make-up that draws unwanted attention away from your problem areas. For males, perhaps a classic watch or a pair of dazzling shoes can make all the difference. These key items play a very important role in diverting attention and make you unique; they can be a topic for discussion during socialization too.
Don’t be discouraged if you are feeling down and out over your body, make a slight change, do something, and you will see how much a difference it makes. Have some spare time? Go for a short workout, change your diet a little. If you put in the effort to correctly dress yourself and choosing the right outfit, you can look thin too. Of course, the advices stated in this article may not apply to everyone, but certainly I hope one of two pointers will actually be something you can think about during your free time. It is time for a change, time to appear a little differently.
